Bachelorette parties, dinners, and road trips are very popular with brides and her bridesmaids today. It has become a fun tradition to have matching custom tees or tanks to wear together and celebrate the bride.
Etsy, Amazon, and several other sellers offer great deals and you can have shirts made to say anything you want on them.
There are a couple of things to consider when you are ordering your shirts..
Any bridesmaid who will be participating and wearing a shirt should pitch in for not only their shirt, but for the bride’s shirt as well.
The bride’s shirt should be a different color with the same design to stand out. This is an easy process with screen printing, vinyl, or sublimated tees.
Make sure you order in plenty of time. Even the most experienced sellers with great reviews needs enough time to order, create, work with you, and ship. Read their processing times and estimated delivery dates. If it says, “ships in 2-5 days” that means they need 2-5 days to make the shirts. If you are giving instructions for custom shirts, the processing time starts after you agree on a design.
Shipping and transit time is in addition to their processing time. Also, if you order late, make sure you pay for the upgraded shipping. The company will not upgrade shipping cost on their dime.
Take the time to actually look at the examples of the seller’s finished products.
Many (most) of the custom tee makers on Etsy are not using screen printed tees, but are cutting heat transfer vinyl with their home vinyl cutters. There are several sellers that are great with this process, but there are a LOT of new makers without experience trying to learn how to make shirts without much experience. You may not want to be their ‘trial and error’ customer when purchasing shirts for others on this special occasion. When viewing their example shirts, make sure the design is not off center, has smooth edges with no creases or puckering, and look for detailed descriptions in their listing. Look at actual shirt examples that they have made, not just a mock up of what it could be.
It may be less expensive to have shirts screen printed with your local t-shirt shop. They do this everyday and screen printing a one or two color design can be pretty reasonable. Shopping local and supporting a small business is always a good thing.
Ask about sizing. Slim fit shirts like Bella + Canvas or other womens tees are very cute but can run very small and tight. An experienced seller will let you know right away if the shirts they offer run small. They will have other options available.
Beware of sellers that are quick to use the phrase “no returns” before you even place the order. If “no returns” is stated in several places on their listing, be cautious.
If there is an issue with your order and it is the seller’s fault (not your last minute ordering) but a fault with the quality, or spelling (once again, not your mistake), sellers need to take responsibility and make things right.
Don’t take one seller’s artwork to another seller hoping for a better price. This is just good manners. When you work hard on something, you don’t want someone else taking credit for it.
